Showers will transition to a wintry mix for portions of the Mid Atlantic this morning before transitioning to all snow by this afternoon. Scattered showers will be possible ahead of the Southeast ahead of a cold front.

The winter storm that brought ice, sleet, and snow to portions of the Southern Plains and Midwest on Sunday is now approaching the East Coast. The cold front associated with this system is responsible for showers for portions of the Tennessee Valley into Georgia. Further to the north, winter weather advisories and winter storm warnings remain in effect for portions of Kentucky through the Mid Atlantic. Light to moderate snow will continue through the day before diminishing.

Snowfall accumulations will range from 1-2 inches for portions of Kentucky, New Jersey, Virginia, and North Carolina. 4-8 inches of snow is expected for portions of Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and New Jersey. As this storm exits the East Coast by tonight, temperatures will drop into the lower 20s and teens, with some areas reaching the single digits.
